Sean Gallagher has 18 years experience within the payment processing systems industry spanning a wide range of roles, including embedded systems development, technical consultancy, product security, and product management.
Working with the global payment vendor VeriFone, Sean achieved extensive experience with the introduction of the EMV payment standards across the major European markets, with solutions deployed across Europe, the CIS and the Middle East. Other EMV implementations have included the design and development of a Pan-European payments processing solution for two major petro companies.
Sean has expertise in the design and development of product security for payment systems hardware and software, with national product certifications achieved in eight European markets. The most recent being a global PCI compliant PED 2.0 certification for a UK mobile payments terminal.
Sean has held product management roles in a variety of organisations - working with a UK payment vendor in the development of an integrated ‘Chip and PIN’ software product that would meet requirements for the banking, retail hospitality and petroleum sectors; a corporate product management role with HP/VeriFone holding responsibility for the cradle to grave management of a $300m portfolio, including new product introduction, budgetary control, product design, market and competitive analysis; and product manager for Visa International with responsibility for their PayWave contactless card product, working with Visa issuers and merchant acquirers in the development of their individual business cases, consumer propositions, and technical integration requirements. This spanned product use in the banking, mobile and transit industry sectors.
